Interface Tour
The window, title bar, sidebar, and how the layout works.
StreamNook runs in a single window with its own title bar, a sidebar for navigating channels, the player, and chat. This page explains where everything is.
The title bar
The custom title bar runs across the top. From left to right it holds the StreamNook logo, a row of quick-access buttons, and the window controls.
| Button | What it opens |
|---|---|
| Logo | The About dialog. |
| Drops (gift icon) | The Drops center. Shows live progress while mining, and a "sign in" cue if Drops are not connected yet. |
| Badges (medal icon) | Your badges and 7TV paints. |
| Whispers (message icon) | Your whispers. |
| Marketplace (store icon) | The plugin marketplace. Shows a count badge when plugin updates are available. |
| Settings (gear icon) | The settings dialog. |
| Minimize / Maximize / Close | Standard window controls. |
You can drag the window by its title bar. Plugins can add their own buttons to this row.
The sidebar
The sidebar lists your followed channels and recommendations so you can jump between streams. You choose how much of it shows in Settings, Interface, Sidebar Display Mode:
- Expanded: always full width with names.
- Compact: avatars only, expanding on hover. This is the default.
- Hidden: appears only when you hover the edge.
- Disabled: off entirely.
Click any channel to open it in the player.
Player and chat layout
When you open a stream, the player fills the main area and chat sits beside it.
- Resize chat by dragging the divider between the player and chat.
- Chat placement can be on the right or on the bottom.
- Hide chat for a clean, full-width player.
- Lock aspect ratio (on by default in Settings, Player) keeps the video at 16:9 by resizing the window to fit the player plus chat as you change things.
Theater mode
Press T to toggle theater mode. The sidebar and chat hide and the video fills the window. Press T again to return. You can define your own theater sizes under Settings, Interface, Compact View Presets.
Fullscreen
Press F or use the fullscreen button on the player to go fully fullscreen. See Player and controls for all playback keys.
Themes
StreamNook ships with a set of themes grouped into categories in Settings, Theme, including a true-black OLED option. You can:
- Pick any built-in theme.
- Adjust glass transparency for the blurred panels.
- Choose an interface font.
- Build and save your own custom theme with full control over background, text, accent, and highlight colors.
Motion and performance
If animations feel heavy, set Settings, Interface, Motion to Reduced or Off. Off gives the snappiest feel on lower-end machines while keeping things like loading spinners working.
